Alzheimer’s Disease 2008: Early recognition and treatment to attenuate disease progression
After participating in the program on Alzheimer’s disease, I am better able to:
1. Diagnose dementia

2. Differentiate between the different dementias (Vascular, Alzheimer’s, Lewy Body Dementia)
3. Finding cognitive, speech, or functional scales to use in practice
4. Diagnose Alzheimer’s Disease
5. Initiate therapy with the FDA approved list of medications for Alzheimer’s disease
6. Differentiate between the above agents by mode of action, side effects, and the monitoring necessary for therapy
7. Reevaluate with cognitive, speech or functional scales during therapy
8. Discontinue medications once the patient appears to have stabilized or appears to be failing the therapy
9. Discuss Alzheimer’s Disease with family
10. Find community support for the patient and family
