Hypertension 2008: Can we decrease target organ damage?

After participating in the discussion on Hypertension, I am better able to:

1. Differentiate selected stages of hypertension by BP

2. Select the most appropriate class of anti-hypertensive agent for the specific patient

3. Initiate combination agents for the treatment of hypertension

4. Discuss newer antihypertensive agents and their impact on target organ damage

5. Choose agents that reduce the risk of target organ damage from HTN

6. Monitor selected antihypertensive patients for adverse effects
